兰花在中国文化中很重要。人们觉得它代表高洁、爱国和真挚的友谊。

孔子曾经说过：“兰生幽谷，不以无人而不芳。”意思是：兰花长在安静的山谷里，即使没有人看到，它还是会散发清香。所以，人们用“空谷幽兰”来比喻一个人在困难、孤独的环境中，也能保持好的品德。

在古代诗人眼中，兰花也代表爱国。最有名的例子是屈原。他觉得兰花的香味不会被污浊的东西影响，就像一个忠诚、正直的人，不会因为权力和利益而改变。在他的诗里，他常常用兰花来比喻自己：即使被误解，他也要保持忠诚，热爱祖国。
